Tavana is super excited to be featuring Taimane Garnder on Tuesday, November 14th at 8 p.m. at Crossroads Hawaiian Brian's. Taimane is a ukulele virtuoso having begun playing the instrument at 5 years old. At 13, she was discovered by legendary 'Ambassador of Aloha' - Don Ho - who added Taimane to his world famous vairety show in Waikiki. From there Taimane would expand her repertoire by studying under ukulele master Jake Shimabukuro who taught her Flamenco and then performing alongside Quadraphonix during which time she received instruction from Shree Sadogopan on Indian scales and melodies. 'Whether delicately finger-picking through Bach or radically ripping through Led Zeppelin, Taimane has the ability to morph genres - from classical to rock to flamenco - and stretch her instrument far beyond the familiar melodies of Hawai'i, where she grew up.' Taimane has played private shows for George Clooney and John Travolta and has opened for Earth Wind and Fire, Chicago, Jimmy Buffett, Chris Isaak, and many more. Her 2015 album, 'We Are Made of Stars' is available for purchase here, and check out her amazing performance at TEDx Maui below!
